The underlying plan for all of our clients is to build a strong foundation and to teach life skills.
Stage 1: 90 minute intake in both homes will consist of the following:
-
Review the child’s academic history
- Go through the child’s study space in both homes
- Learn about the child’s homework routine
- Discuss tools for staying organized in both homes
Stage 2: Consists of follow-up sessions to include the following topics:
- Filling out a weekly/monthly calendar of assignments and appointments consistent in both homes
- Discussing techniques to ensure that both homes have supplies the child needs for school and all activities.
- Discussing technology that can assist with communication between co-parents.
Our experience has shown that the most effective outcomes occur when a family works on a weekly basis to reinforce the skills discussed in the initial intake. Of course the appropriate action plan for each family is determined on a case-by-case basis at the time of the initial intake.
